Non Profit Management/Business Administration:
Gain a wide range of experiences involving day-to-day business, communications and fundraising operations of a nonprofit. Responsibilities and projects may include event coordination, writing press releases, assisting with fundraising appeal letters and mailings, attending community coalition meetings, creating and updating community resource guides, reviewing grant applications and reporting, data entry and donor database management, data analysis, updating and engaging on digital channels; assisting with relevant administrative support.
Marketing/Communications/Fundraising/Media Arts Projects
• Social media engagement: Responsibilities and projects may include monitoring social media channels; developing and creating content; creating and implementing strategies to boost reach and garner followers; updating digital channels; assisting with fundraising appeals; assisting with event coordination and relevant administrative support.
• Content creation: Responsibilities and projects may include shooting and editing video about United Way programs for use on digital channels; graphic design (for fliers, letters, social media channels) for events and programs. Exposure to United Way branding guidelines; assisting with event coordination and relevant administrative support.
• Communication. Responsibilities and projects may include writing fundraising and thank you letters; creating press releases; writing content for digital channels; assisting fundraising appeals and mailings; assisting with event coordination and relevant administrative support.

Human Services/Social Sciences
Gain macro/systems experiences in human services and social sciences. Responsibilities and projects may include attending community coalition meetings, creating and updating community resource guides, reviewing grant applications and reporting, data analysis, event coordination, volunteer project management, and assisting with relevant administrative support.
Finance: Tax Preparation
The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program offers free tax help at its sites to people who cannot afford paid professional assistance. Volunteers help to prepare basic tax returns for income eligible taxpayers, including people with disabilities, those with limited-English proficiency and senior citizens. Assistance is provided at community and neighborhood locations with electronic filing to the Internal Revenue Service for all participants.
Position Description
• Attend Link and Learn training and successfully pass advanced level certification exam.
• Maintain Confidentiality/Security of all client data
• Accurately enter tax client data into the software program and work with Site staff to complete tax returns
• Availability January – April during the tax season
Job Skills and Qualifications (United Way will provide training & certification):
• Complete Ethics certification for all participants
• Complete Advanced level tax certification for preparers
