This morning we joined SCFCU CEO John Felton and so many others at the grand opening of Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union’s new corporate offices and community training center!
Congratulations from all of us here at UWSCC to John and his team!
The new community training center is already proving to be a great asset for local nonprofits and other agencies in need of a space for trainings, lectures and other meetings.
We so greatly appreciate the support of John and Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union. Beyond being a generous contributor to our annual fundraising campaign, John and his company are dedicated to giving back to the community and do so in a myriad of ways including donations, sponsorship and volunteering.
During his comments Monday, it was heartening to hear John mention the bank’s dedication to those in county who are considered part of the ALICE population.
ALICE is a United Way acronym which stands for “Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.”
The term represents the increasing number of individuals and families who work, but are unable to meet their basic needs, including: food, child care, housing, health care and transportation.
More than 48% of households in Chautauqua County are considered ALICE.
Here at UWSCC, our team facilitates a 90-minute engagement tool called “The ALICE Experience” which walks participants through the financial hardship experienced by so many in Chautauqua County. This interactive experience equips participants with a more full understanding of the invisible needs which so many are struggling with.
We are always willing to book and coordinate a session of “The ALICE Experience” for local businesses, boards and any agency. For more info or book a session, contact KCastro@uwayscc.org.
